History and Members
Forum ETHIBEL asbl
was succeeding Ethibel asbl in 2006.
Ethibel asbl
was set up in 1991 when two sources of inspiration came together.
The original inspiration to set up Ethibel came from NGOs
that are active in the field of alternative financing, environment,
the peace movement, the third world and other areas of social
action. The actual establishment was realised through the
plan by a stock broker, wishing to create a socially responsible
investment fund. He expressed the need to create an independent,
and specialised screening organisation to give advice. Nowadays,
Forum ETHIBEL still fulfills the role of an intermediary advisor
for the financial and the corporate world.
In 2001 STOCK at STAKE
sa was created as a spin off from Ethibel asbl, with
the objective of specialising in Corporate Social Responsibility
Research, mainly targeting financial clients. The Ethibel
Register and the Ethibel Sustainability Indices became the
first and biggest client.
By the end of 2005 STOCK at STAKE
sa merged with its French counterpart VIGEO sa.
The assessments for the Ethibel label then became supported
by a much larger international analyst team, supported by
performant databases and capitalising on synergetic effects.
Forum ETHIBEL is still autonomously
and independently responsible for the Ethibel assessments
and selections for the Ethibel Register and the Ethibel Sustainability
Index, based on sectoral studies and company profiles provided
by Vigeo sa, following the rulesbook of Forum ETHIBEL.
The organisations and individuals
being member of Forum ETHIBEL are specialised in various aspects
of Corporate Sustainbility and Responsibility, representing
stakeholders groups in various ways. Vigeo is responsible
for customer relations in the financial world. Input from
both sides is essential for the continuous improvement of
criteria and methodology behind the ETHIBEL quality label.
The next organisations and individuals are member of the General
