Composition of the Investment
Register
As of the end of
December 2003
more than 230 companies were enlisted in ETHIBEL's
investment register.
Geographical spreading:
When
just counting the number of countries in which the main seat
of the companies enlisted in the investment register is located,
we can see the following geographical spreading:
- 58,5%
of the enlisted companies are European. They are divided
as follows: 33% of the total number of companies in the register
are in the Eurozone (Belgian companies make up 7% of the total);
25,5% are in the non-Euro countries.
- 22%
of the register companies are North American (USA and
Canada).
- 19.5% of the register companies are located in the Pacific, mostly in Japan, with Japanese companies now representing
15% of the register, but also in Australia, New Zealand, Hong
Kong and Singapore.
Sectoral spreading:
ETHIBEL tries as much as possible to achieve the most varied spread
possible over the various sectors. There are, for instance,
companies in the register from all sectors including the more
difficult ones from a sustainability point of view such as
energy and utility companies. Attempts are made to find pioneers
and best-in-class companies in all sectors which score good
to very good in all investigated sustainability
criteria.
