Ethibel constantly selects companies
which play a leading role in their sector in the field of sustainable entrepreneurship
and social responsibility. The inclusion of companies in the register is carried
out with the greatest care and the evaluation is as much as possible judged
in relation to the sector. With the choice of a particular company in a sector
or region, Ethibel does not judge the ethical character or the sustainable entrepreneurship
of other companies operating in the same branch.
The list of companies in the register is in a state of constant flux. New companies
are added every month and sometimes companies are removed. As a result, only
the most recent version of the register is valid, i.e. the version that is offered
by Ethibel in a written document.
The inclusion of a company in the investment register is based on the sustainability
screening using Ethibel’s research model. Although in principle Ethibel
is looking for investments with both a financial and a social return, the weighing
up of the financial pros and cons of a particular value in the register remains
in the hands of the managers of SRI funds.
The use of the register in the context of an investment fund carrying the Ethibel
Label is subject to a mutual written agreement between Ethibel and its clients.
Without such a contract nobody can attach the names "Ethibel", "Ethibel
Label" or "Ethibel Sustainability Index" to his/her investment
portfolio. Ethibel can in no way be helt responsible for any damage or loss
as a result of any investment based on the Ethibel Investment Register.
The inclusion of a company in the register does not mean sticking
an "ethical" or "socially responsible"
label on that company. Every one of the companies on the register
are those who perform best in their sector and region in all
fields relating to sustainable entrepreneurship. Companies
involved in practices which could put the sustainable development
of human beings and the environment in danger, are not included
in the register. Inclusion in the investment register does
mean that the company fits in with a sustainable investment
portfolio but this does not make a company "ethical"
or "socially responsible" in itself.
The abstracts and short profiles included only provide a brief summary of more
complex technical dossiers. Ethibel bases these dossiers on all possible sources
about the company and believes they are reliable and trustworthy. However, it
will not accept any responsibility if the contents of these documents are disputed.
In any case, Ethibel keeps a close watch on all companies
in the register and re-evaluates them. Including a company
in the register is done at a particular time and as such cannot
guarantee the "ethical behaviour" of the company
in the future.
